SOLDIERS Point Ladies Bowling Club are celebrating 60 years of bowls.
Much has changed since the Soldiers Point ladies first started bowling back in 1956. Now the days of wearing traditional bowling whites are gone and have since been replaced with a wide array of colourful uniforms.
What has remained constant is the club’s passion for lawn bowls.
The anniversary gave the club a chance to reflect on its origins, Ladies President, Diana Sullivan said that her members had enjoyed looking back over their 60 year history.
Diana said that the buildings changed when the ladies first played, then when the green was rolled at Soldier’s Point, they had to go to a different bowls club to play.
Over the past six decades the ladies believe that they have won around 13 pennants. Currently boasting 112 members, the Soldiers Point ladies hope they can continue to add to the illustrious history of their club.
Diana hopes that they will have another 60 years of fun playing bowls and success.
The ladies of Soldiers Point continue to go from strength to strength and hope that they bring home more pennants.
