Disability Sport and Recreation (DSR) and the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) recently invited Bowls Victoria to participate in the DSR Kids Hospital Sports Program at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
DSR and VPRS bring sporting experiences to kids at both the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Hospital each month. Each session provides an opportunity for the kids to try a different sport.
This year, seven keen participants tried bowls for the first time playing a number of different Junior Jack Attack games. Because they’re in wheelchairs they said that they’re not usually allowed to participate in these types of games at school. It was fantastic to see the huge smiles on their faces as they played and enjoyed the sport of bowls. They would have happily played all night!
Bowls Victoria would like to thank Disability Sport and Recreation and the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service for inviting them to be a part of such a special and rewarding program.
