It was a great turnout for the NSW Master Builders Bowls Club annual charity bowls day on March 15 helping raise funds for the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Held at the Taren Point Bowling Club, the Master Builders bowlers raised over $15,000 and have said that it could not have been done without the help and generosity of all that were in attendance, as well as the great venue.
Two games of 10 ends were played, with an entry fee of $100 for a team of four. One of the biggest drawcards was the opportunity to play with a star bowler for a donation of $200. Star bowlers included Jeremy Henry (World Champion), Barrie Lester (3 times Commonwealth Games medalist) Adam Jefferey (Aussie legend), David Axon (Welsh International bowler), John Green (State Champion) and Grant Schuberg (Point UBC Star).
The club would like to thank the Taren Point Bowling Club (especially Chris Green) for an “absolutely fabulous” effort. In total, the annual charity bowls day has raised over $115,00 over the past 15 years.
